As business owners, getting testimonials, reviews, and referrals is an important final step to be able to show prospective clients the experience others have had.
In this video, I show you how you can get more reviews, testimonials, and referrals using automation.
So, in this video we’re going to look at a workflow that helps you get reviews testimonials and referrals whenever you finish down work for a client.
So why are testimonials reviews and referrals important to your business? Because testimonials are a great way to tell client stories. What was their problem before they came and saw you? How did you fix it? And what results did they find afterwards?
Reviews are great way to let clients compare your businesses with others so on social media where the client leaves a review typically, they can show up in lists of other like businesses. And referrals are a great way of getting new clients cost-effectively from existing happy clients.
Let’s look at the workflow that we can use. So, the first thing we need to have is a trigger. What is it that makes you start this process and the trigger can be finishing a task for someone or delivering some photographs? You just need to determine that as part of your business. And once our trigger’s been set off, we then send an email.
In this example we’re going to look at the email I use which is just simply just touching base and you’ll notice on this particular one there are three yellow faces. And it’s actually the yellow faces that are key to making this whole process work for me.
So, when someone clicks on the smiley face it takes them to a form on my website. And we just ask some targeted questions about what life was like before they started working with us. What challenges they faced and how we solve their problem? And when they click on the submit button down the bottom, it takes them to another page where we ask them to submit a review.
Now I use LinkedIn because I work with other businesses. So, it’s an important place for people to let other businesses know how I help them. And we also leave a review on Google because Google knows everything and when people search, they can see the reviews pop up there. And just to make life easier for my clients, I copy over the text in the previous form so they can just copy and paste into their review if they need to.
But what happens if they’re not happy? So, if they’re not happy, we send them to a different page and just start telling them that we are sorry they didn’t have a better experience and again, different questions to ask them why they weren’t happy. So, what went wrong? What is it that we could have done better? And once they click on the send my feedback button down the bottom, we don’t ask them for a review because we don’t want a review from customers who weren’t happy. They can go and do it themselves if they want but I’m not going to encourage it.
So that’s the first email and if they haven’t clicked on any of the faces after a day or two, I just send a follow-up email with the same content. Just asking him how they felt about the service and of course if they have clicked on the face we don’t send the follow-up email.
But whether they do or not I might wait another five days, the choice is up to you, and then we send an email out asking for a referral. So who is it that they know that they feel could benefit from our services as well. And that’s the workflow that I use. You can put this in place manually, but you have to remember to do all this at each stage each different timing. Or you can automate it. The choice is up to you.
